Farmer Bankruptcies in FY2025
In the 12 months ending June 2025, U.S. farmers filed 282 Chapter 12 bankruptcies—a 56% increase nationwide and a 68% rise in the South, which accounted for more than one-third of all cases.
These numbers represent more than financial loss—they signal families, legacies, and farmland at risk. When the future feels uncertain, stress can turn to despair and take a toll on mental health.
